Dr. Venkatesh Makkala, MD
Dr. Venkatesh Makkala, MD serves on the board of advisors at myElth. Dr. Makkala has more than 20 years of experience practicing medicine in the United States. He continues to be an Attending Internist, Consultation Liaison for Department of Psychiatry and Department of Medicine at BronxCare Health Systems, Icahn School of Medicine NY, NY for more than 17 years. Prior to that he worked as Attending Internist in Addiction medicine, for more than 3 years where he also contributed to establishing protocols in acute Detox management of patient care.
Dr. Makkala was the first doctor to pioneer in integrating primary care and specialty medicine rotation in psychiatry residency in the United States. As attending Internist in specialty consultation, Dr. Makkala has been providing exceptional care for a very special group of patients admitted in inpatient psychiatric services with multiple complex medical comorbidities.
Dr. Makkala plays an active role in designing residency program including competencies of residents in medical field, as well as gives lectures to residents and fellows at BronxCare Health Systems. He also gives lectures to medical students from Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Ross School of medicine and American University of Caribbean School of medicine. Additionally, Dr. Makkala actively mentors fellows, residents and medical students in publishing abstracts, articles and case reports.
Dr. Makkala completed his Internal Medicine residency from BronxCare Health System affiliated with Albert Einstein School of Medicine in 1998. He graduated from Gandhi Medical College, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India.
